What are dermal fillers or as Hyaluronic acid?
Dermal filler or hyaluronic fillers are synonyms i.e. fillers we use to compensate for the lost volume of the skin (skin folds and wrinkles), for shaping the contours of the face, hydration and skin rejuvenation and non-surgical correction of the scars. Over the years, due to the aging process, together with collagen and elastin, body loses its ability to produce hyaluronic acid and the skin begins to lose its’ moisture, elasticity, strength and volume, which leads to dehydration of the skin and formation of wrinkles.

What are the advantages of dermal fillers?
Hyaluronic dermal fillers have in recent years become the gold standard for filling facial wrinkles. Here, at the Centre for Aesthetic Medicine Medikol, we use only luxury high quality dermal fillers. They are biocompatible products; i.e. they biologically biodegrade in your body in a way that is natural and safe and disappear from your body when it is fully absorbed. The advantage of modern fillers is that they aren’t permanent and it is not necessary to test for allergies because they are not of animal origin unlike collagen filler which are derived from animal collagen.

What is a „tear trough“ ?
„Tear through“ is defined as a depression inner part of lower eyelid.

What causes “tear trough”?
During the aging process degenerative changes occur in the structure and quality of the skin followed by loss and lowering of body fat and a loss of bone mass in the middle part of face and especially in the field of zygomatic bone resulting in “tear trough” eyes and dark circles.

What is the “tear trough” treatment?
After a thorough examination and analysis of face we begin with cleaning the face, applying anesthetic cream and fillers in the form of gel injected into the desired location followed by a gentle massage to achieve a uniformly smooth surface. After the treatment our clients returns to their everyday life.

What are the results of dermal filler treatment?
Results of dermal filler treatment are a disappearance of “tear trough” and the dark dent on the inside of the eye. Face no longer appears “drained” and tired and looks younger and fresher.

Is the treatment painful and how long does it last?
Before the treatment we apply anesthetic cream so that the treatment is completely painless. The treatment itself lasts for approximately 10-15 minutes and results can be seen immediately afterwards. After the treatment our clients returns to their everyday life. Due to the extreme brevity of the treatment and its painlessness, filler treatments are also called “lunch-time” treatments because they can be done during lunch break.

Are there side effects?
Side effects, even if they occur, are very rare. Slight redness can appear at the site of application and sensation of tightening but it quickly disappears. There may be swelling and bruising, which disappear after 2-3 days. I must stress that the frequency of hypersensitive reaction is extremely rare: only 1 hypersensitivity response was observed in 25 000 treatments.

Recommendations after the treatment:
We advise our clients to:

  • gently rub the treated area every few hours while at home
  • avoid massage and other aesthetic, cosmetic or laser procedures of the treated area for a week
  • avoid the sun tanning, tanning salons and sauna for a week
